Since completing my PhD, I have been working on a number of research activities and papers. While new research that I am involved with is diverse, it focuses on specific areas surrounding online learning, teaching ethics and accounting in both for-profit’ and not-for-profit organisations. I realise the importance of creating a niche research profile environment and being strong in certain fields. However, in saying that, I am open to researching multidisciplinary areas as I also understand the importance of expanding one’s knowledge base and being able to impart this in teaching. This in turn enables us to encourage the same with our own students, so that they will graduate as people who are accepting of diversity and have a willingness to learn throughout their lives as corporate and social citizens.
As mentioned, my current research looks to accounting and education issues in the not for profit and public sectors. My most recent project is examining the changes to performance as a result of amalgamation of city councils in Queensland. I currently have a number of working papers across three streams. Firstly, changes associated with the amalgamation of councils in Queensland and the effect on performance and sustainability (see grant information below). Secondly, ethics, internships and education; and thirdly, the effect of virtual classrooms on academic achievement for online students.
